Grade 9 Social Studies

Course Description

The Grade 9 Social Studies course is designed to help students develop a strong understanding of citizenship, government, civic responsibilities, and the political and social systems that shape life in The Bahamas. The course also builds the critical thinking, analytical, and examination skills needed to prepare students for the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) Social Studies examination.

Students receive structured instruction while developing problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and effective study habits. The program emphasizes continuous assessment, exam practice, and mastery of key concepts across the three years of junior high school.

This is a self-paced course for students to review notes and questions at their availability. 

MATERIALS: All materials will be provided for students throughout the course. 

TECHNOLOGY: Participants will need access to internet and a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet to participate in this course.

Student Outcome

By the end of the course, students will be confident in applying knowledge, interpreting exam questions, and demonstrating the competencies required to achieve passing BJC results.

Who Should Take This Course

This course is designed for Grade 9 students preparing to sit the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) Social Studies examination, with a specific focus on Civics. The course is also suitable for students who need additional academic support, those who wish to improve their exam skills and confidence and homeschool or independent learners planning to take the national BJC examinations.
